The X Games is an annual extreme sports event hosted, produced, and broadcast by ESPN. Coverage is also shown on ESPN's sister network, ABC. The inaugural X Games were held during the summer of 1995 in Providence and Newport, Rhode Island. Participants compete to win bronze, silver, and gold medals, as well as prize money.
Between 2001 and 2007, for two seasons in Philadelphia and three in Los Angeles, Baby Bean was brought on board to support ESPN’s television production department. Supporting pre-production and production as a liaison between TV Production, Research Dept, Athletes and Sport Organizers throughout the Games’ BMX events notable achievements were:
• 2007 website traffic to EXPN.com was the largest ever in the history of the X Games event.
• 2006 was ESPN's highest-rated X Games ever among young men in 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 age groups.
• Professional expertise aided TV Production for the first live television broadcast of the X Games in 2003.
The ESPN X Games moments of amazing athletic feats are countless. Mat Hoffman pulling the first ever no-handed 900, Travis Pastrana competing the first ever moto Double Backflip and Dave Mirra spinning the first ever X Games BMX Double Backflip are just a few that Baby Bean was fortunate enough to be a part of.
